It’s that time of the year, where it is your chance to vote for the sessions you would like to see at VMworld. This year, I have submitted six VMworld Sessions focusing on VMware Validated Design (VVD), Network Function Virtualization (NFV), Software Defined Networking (SDN). I hope you find few you will like and vote for.
For those of you who are ready to rate the sessions, here is the list. If you like to ready the summary of all my sessions in one place, the you can read below. If you rate at least 3 of my sessions (high or low), please leave a comment below for a chance to win a $50 Amazon gift card.

Below is a summary of my sessions and looking forward for your votes and support.
Two VCDXs Deep Dive into VVD Network Stack. [2269] (Breakout Session)
Are you considering VMware Validated Design to accelerate the adoption of the Software Defined Datacenter at your organization? Do you have questions about the VVD networking stack? How to best configure your physical network gears to give you the best outcome? Do you wonder about the configuration of the VVD Network Stack across racks? Why BGP was chosen over OSPF and what happen if you are using OSPF? What if you are not using Spine and Leaf?
This session will drill down the VMware Validated Design Network Stack and cover some areas that left out of the VVD design to provide customers more freedom with their physical network design. Here we will cover from experience what architecture decisions have given customers the best output. Common deviation from the VVD Network Stack design will be covered. Learn the history of our decisions.
Speakers:
Mike Brown, VMware
Eiad AlAqqad, VMware
VMware Validated Design The Why? Who? What? Why? & How? [2258] (Breakout Session)
Are you considering VMware Validated Design to accelerate the adoption of the Software Defined Datacenter at your organization? Come learn what makes up a VVD? Why VVD can be beneficial for your organization? When and when not to implement VVD? How do we implement VVD for our customers?
VVD is much more than just a set of documents, come learn what makes VVD a VVD. What a bare minimum VVD is made off. How it can be beneficial to evolve your datacenter into modern Software Defined Datacenter at a fraction of traditional implementation. Design deviations happen, so come learn how the most common VVD deviations are being addressed today in the field. Learn how VMware PSO deploy VVD and what tools they use to speed up the delivery of VVD. Come learn about deployments road blocks and how to work around them. Let the experts help you start.
Speakers:
Tom Harrington, Staff Engineer, VMware
Eiad AlAqqad, Consulting Architect, VMware
Addressing the Most Common VMware Validated Design Decisions Deviations [2232](Breakout Session)
Are you considering VMware Validated Design to accelerate the adoption of the Software Defined Datacenter at your organization? Are you discouraged by some of the design decisions of the VVD? Are some of the VVD design decisions not feasible for your organization? The VMware team has spent a significant amount of resources and engineering hours in crafting VVD. While every effort has been done to ensure these decisions are documented with adequate details and capable of addressing the widest range of VMware customers, there still decisions that might not suite your environment or where you disagree with it. Let us address the most debated decisions of the VMware Validated Design and how they have been previously addressed in the field.
Speakers:
Eiad AlAqqad, VMware
Gary Blake, VMware
VMware Validated Design Experts Panel [2062] (Panel Discussion)
Are you considering VMware Validated Design to accelerate the adoption of the Software Defined Datacenter at your organization? Are you discouraged by some of the design decisions of the VVD? Is some of the VVD design decisions are not feasible for your organization? Do you have an idea to improve the VVD?
Bring your thoughts to this panel discussion to hear from our experts, as well for us to take a note of your feedback. It’s your chance to help drive the future of VVD. The VMware team has spent a significant amount of resources and engineering hours in crafting VVD. While every effort has been done to ensure these decisions are documented with adequate details and capable of addressing the widest range of VMware customers, there still decisions that might not suite your environment or where you disagree with it. Let us address it.

Software Defined Networking (SDN) vs Network Function Virtualization (NFV) [2242] (Breakout Session)
Are you confused by the industry using the terms Software Defined Network (SDN) and Network Function Virtualization (NFV) interchangeable? Are you interested in discovering which one is right for your organization & why? How about discovering the use cases of each and how much value it can bring?
This session will cover the difference between Software Defined Network (SDN) and Network Function Virtualization (NFV). The use cases of both SDN and NFV, and which type of environment they are tailored for. How can they co-exist and complement each other? VMware has initiatives into both SDN and NFV. While VMware NSX is a well-known VMware SDN offering in the enterprise, VMware NFV play will be of great value for Telcos. If you are in the Telco space and not sure what VMware has to offer in this space, this session is for you.

Question the VVD Network Stack Decisions [2277] (Panel Discussion)
Are you considering VMware Validated Design to accelerate the adoption of the Software Defined Datacenter at your organization? Do you have questions about the VVD networking stack? How to best configure your physical network gears to give you the best outcome? Do you wonder about the configuration of the VVD Network Stack across racks? Why BGP was chosen over OSPF and what happen if you are using OSPF? What if you are not using Spine and Leaf?
This session will allow you to drill down the VMware Validated Design Network Stack. Come question a panel made up of VVD experts from both VMware Engineering and PSO. This panel is armed with two VCDXs, so come get your deep VVD Network Stack Architecture questions answered. It’s your chance to help drive future design decisions or at least understand the reasoning behind the current one.
